The Doorbell Rang (2)

Listen to the story The Doorbell Rang again if you need to.

Imagine Grandma had 24 cookies on her plate when she rang the doorbell.

How many different ways could she share the cookies with the children?

How many children were there and how many did they get each?

Find as many different ways as you can to share the cookies equally.

You could use some objects or small paper circles you have cut out to help you work out how to share the cookies.

Draw a picture and write some numbers to show how many children and how you shared the cookies with them.

Questions to support my thinking

Activity too hard?

  • What if there were 18 cookies?

Activity too easy?

  • Choose your own number of cookies to put on Grandma’s plate. How many different ways can you share them?

  • How do you know you have found all the possible solutions?
